Ballet Philippines’ 46th Season Dance Spring (Pagsibol)

OPERA: A Rebirth in Arabesque

Created in cooperation with renowned Filipino artist Gabriel Barredo, Ballet Philippines joins Art Fair Philippines 2016 with a moving tableaux and performance based on the acclaimed installation, Opera.

In his work, Barredo invites us to view the body itself and to confront its mortality. His themes of decay and transformation are expanded in this dance adaptation choreographed by guest French dancemaker Redha Benteifour and BP’s resident choreographer Alden Lugnasin, from a libretto by Erwin Romulo and Yvette Tan, and featuring original music by Malek Lopez.

Opera serves as Ballet Philippines’ fundraising event for the season. This production is in cooperation with the French Embassy.
